The Biggest Announcements From the 2020 Xbox Games Showcase


Featuring trailers, announcements, and “exclusive world premieres,” the 2020 Xbox Games Showcase took place earlier today online. Learn more about what titles will make their way to the Xbox Series X with our recap of the event.

Halo Infinite

The legendary Halo series returns to the Xbox Series X with the release of 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite. In this title, Master Chief makes his return when humanity’s fate hangs in the balance to confront the Banished. No prior knowledge of the series is required to enjoy this title, but longtime fans will be able to follow the events of Halo 5: Guardians and be rewarded with new mysteries to unravel.

During today’s presentation, more than eight minutes of its campaign were shown at 60 frames per second and at up to 4K resolution.

Fable

A new beginning for the legendary franchise, the Fable series makes its return on the Xbox Series X and Windows 10 PCs. Developed by Playground Games, players will be able to explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places in this adventure.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also be able to pay the game day one.

Forza Motorsport

Players will be able to witness the power of Xbox Series X with the release of Forza Motorsport. For those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, the title will be available on the service on day one.

State of Decay 3

The next chapter in the State of Decay series, State of Decay 3 will launch for the Xbox Series X and PC, and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.

As Dusk Falls

The debut title from INTERIOR/NIGHT, As Dusk Falls explores the entangled lives of two families across the span of thirty years. According to the development team, the choices players make will have a powerful impact on this epic story of sacrifice, betrayal, and resilience.

As Dusk Falls will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

The award winning PC franchise will make its next generation debut with the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. In this title, players will be able to experience a large open-world filled with mutants, radiation, and anomalies.

The title will launch for the Xbox Series X, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.

Everwild

A new IP from Rare, Everwild will pay host to unique and unforgettable experiences in what is described as a natural and magical world.

The game will come out for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10 PCs, and soon to Xbox Game Pass.

Avowed

A new title from Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed is an epic, first-person RPG that is set in the fantasy world of Eora. In it, players must face the monsters that their sins have born.

The title will come out for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Game Pass, and Windows 10 PC. All those interested can find the official site here.

Balan Wonderworld

Designed by Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima (Sonic the Hedgehog), Square Enix’s Balan Wonderworld is an all-new 3D action, family friendly platformer. Players will enter a bizarre and whimsical land after venturing through a mysterious theatre, taking on the role of both Leo and Emma. Led by the maestro Balan, they must navigate through Wonderworld to restore happiness and balance the hearts and minds of its inhabitants.

The game will come out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC in spring 2021.

Psychonauts 2

In the latest trailer for Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2, series protagonist Razputin Aquato (or Raz for short) takes a journey through the mind of a mystery brain that he discovered in a jar.

Players will be able to enjoy Psychonauts 2 day one with Xbox Game Pass. The title will launch on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

The Gunk

Designed by Image & Form Games (Steamworld series), The Gunk drops players off in an alien world where they’ll encounter terrifying enemies and challenging puzzles. Along the way, players will unravel the mystery of a forgotten planet, all while saving it in the process.

Echo Generation

A turn-based adventure game by Cococucumber, Echo Generation will come out for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2021.

The Medium

The latest trailer for Bloober Team’s next-gen psychological horror game The Medium paid host to a never-seen-before (and officially patented Dual-Reality Gameplay which plays out across two worlds that are displayed simultaneously.

The game will launch this holiday season for the Xbox Series X and PC.

Watch Dogs: Legion

The latest trailer for Ubisoft’s title, Watch Dogs: Legion lets players build up a resistance to save the city of London from human traffickers, corrupt private military, and authoritarian rule. Along the way, players will be able to find legendary characters and can transform ordinary citizens into heroes.

The title will launch on October 29, 2020 for the Xbox One, and will also make its way to the Xbox Series X.

Destiny 2

The world of Bungie’s Destiny 2 will make its way to the Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass. Starting this September, all subscribers will get access to all current Destiny 2 expansions, along with Destiny 2: Beyond Light when it is released. The Xbox Series X version of the title will run in 4K and at 60 frames per second.

EXOMECHA

A new F2P online competitive first-person shooter, TwistedRed’s EXOMECHA takes place in the untouched and new planet of OMECHA, which is filled with exotic environments. The title will feature mechs, flexible playing styles, unique abilities and gadgets, and boss battles. Included are team-based large scale battles, a battle royale game mode, and an objective-based game mode.

The game will launch for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021. Players can sign up for the beta here.

Tetris Effect: Connected

A reinvention of one of the most popular puzzle games of all time, Tetris Effect: Connected will feature all-new co-op and competitive online, along with a number of local multiplayer modes. The Xbox Series X and PC versions of the title will feature graphics at native 4K and 60 frames per second.

The title will be available for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10 PC, along with the Xbox Game Pass and Smart Delivery programs, this holiday season. The multiplayer expansion will be made available as a free update to all other existing versions of Tetris Effect in the summer of 2021.

CrossfireX

A cinematic single player experience from Smilegate Entertainment and Remedy, CrossfireX tells of a conflict between the Global Risk and Black List mercenary factions.

Hello Neighbor 2

The sequel to the genre-defining stealth horror game, Hello Neighbor 2 pays host to an open world that features an advanced, self-learning AI. Players will take control of the local journalist Quentin, who is tasked with investigating missing persons reports. In your hunt for the truth, you follow a series of clues that leads you back to the abandoned house of The Neighbor.

The game will come out for the Xbox Series X and PC.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis

Set to surpass Phantasy Star Online 2 in every way, SEGA’s Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis has been redesigned as “a best-in-class online action RPG experience.” A greater level of character customization and a greater sense of adventure have both been included.

The title will launch in 2021.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition

Originally released on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, the world of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition will make its way to Microsoft’s platforms on December 4, 2020.

The Definitive Edition of the game will include all the content from the original release, along with character-specific scenarios, the choice between the original soundtrack or an orchestral version of the music, the ability to switch between 2D and 3D graphics, a Japanese voiceover option, and other enhancements.

Tell Me Why

The latest title from DONTNOD Entertainment (Life is Strange), Tell Me Why features true-to-life characters, gripping choices, and mature themes. The game follows twins Alyson and Tyler in Alaska as they use their bond to discover the mysteries of their loving but troubled childhood.

The title will launch day one with Xbox Game Pass, and can be pre-ordered today on the Microsoft Store and Steam.
