Originally set to release in January of this year, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will come out for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Android and iOS devices on August 27, 2020.
Released for the Nintendo GameCube stateside in 2004, this action RPG has players taking on the role of different adventurers that set out to gather mystical fuel for crystals, which in turn protect the world’s settlements from the dreaded Miasma. The original release was designed with an accessible gameplay experience in mind, albeit one that focuses squarely on multiplayer.
In addition to updated graphics and audio, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will feature character voice overs, online multiplayer that comes with cross-play functionality, a number of new items, and additional dungeons and bosses that promise to provide a challenge.
Also coming to the title is a brand-new feature called “Mimic.” This ability will give players the chance to take on the form of the different characters they come across along the way. In order to do so, players will need to visit Moogle Houses, collect stamps, and complete difficult dungeons to net themselves different unique crystals that can change their appearance into that of their favorite characters.
